Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center

The museum has moved from Sagle, Idaho to its new location at the Pappy Boyington Field in Kootenai County. Visitors may drive in or fly in!

The Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center exists to serve the local community and beyond by offering a world-class educational experience centered around the themes of Aviation and Innovation. The museum is especially committed to communicating a philosophy that people learn best if they are encouraged to find something of value and interest upon which to apply their education.

Dr. Forrest Bird, M.D., PhD., ScD., whose early, avid, interest in aviation provided an application for learning which has produced some of the greatest innovations of our time, was inducted into the “US Inventors’ Hall of Fame” for his developments in “Fluid Dynamics and the patented BABYbird®.”

The Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center includes 10,000 square feet of displays and exhibits, Gift Shop, Community Classroom upstairs, and restrooms with handicap accessibility.
Year-Round Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-3pm. We will be closed during the holidays, to spend time with our families (November 28-30 and December 24-January1).
