Once a landing for steamers, the community remains a port, but now many pleasure boats tie up at the marina and cruise the clear waters. The 72 mile-long "Trail of the Coeur d'Alene's" provides a beautiful paved hiking/biking experience along the edge of the lake and river bank, right into the heart of this gem of a town.

Hayden

Incredible beauty and recreation can be found on Hayden Lake but our quality of life is the biggest draw of all. The cities of Hayden and Hayden Lake both border the western shores of Hayden Lake. About 4,000 acres in size with 40 miles of shoreline, the lake hosts one full service marina and two public boat launches. Fishing and water sports are popular pastimes on the lake. Priest River

Priest River is one of Idaho's best kept secrets. Centrally located in a recreation paradise, nestled in the Selkirk Mountain Range, it is bordered by the Priest River on the east and the Pend Oreille River on the south. RV parks and campgrounds, recreational rentals, skiing, golfing, fishing, boating, hunting and many other attractions and activities are within easy reach. World-class fishing can be had at many area lakes, both large and small. Hikers enjoy taking the trail up Gisborne Mountain for views and possible wildlife spotting from the lookout at the Priest River Experimental Forest. Huckleberry and mushroom pickers can have their choice of bounty depending on the season. We are also a stop on the Panhandle Historic Rivers Passage Scenic Byway, and part of the International Selkirk Loop.

For over a century people have enjoyed the mountains, lakes and wildlife that thrive in Rathdrum, Idaho. There are biking and hiking trails, water recreational opportunities and fantastic fishing as well as 2 distinct 18-hole golf courses providing locals and visitors with a fun and relaxing experience.  
 
Community celebrations include Rathdrum Days, normally the third weekend in July, where residents and friends come together and enjoy events such as street dancing, watermelon eating contests, wiener dog races and anything the committee might dream up.  Fall Festival is the last weekend in September and offers samples of dutchoven cooking, a day of bluegrass music, storytelling, and a chance to find out more about the history of the area and learn how things were done back in the “old days.” Throughout the year there are other events for the community and friends such as Festival D’lights in December, community concerts in the old City Park, a fishing derby for kids in Rathdrum Creek which runs through the park.  The park is also available for family picnics. Rathdrum offers the travelers many choices of restaurants and shopping.  Lodging is available at two Bed & Breakfasts set in beautiful natural surroundings.

Selkirk Loop
