Priest Lake State Park
Priest Lake boasts one of the finest parks in the state in Priest Lake State Park, which actually has three separate units along the east side of the lake:
Lionhead at north end offers camping, a boat dock and a splendid sandy beach. One of the finest hikes in the region originates here to Upper Priest Lake, and the Thorofare to the upper lake is just across the bay, making this unit popular with canoeists and kayakers as well as motor boaters.
Indian Creek at mid lake is the largest of the three, with boat ramp, docks, camping and a host of recreational activities including volleyball, horseshoes and of course excellent swimming on wide sandy beaches.
Dickensheet along the Priest River below the lake’s outlet is small, with only eight or so camping spots, but the river offers excellent swimming, wading and fishing for young ones along its pebbly shore. There’s a bike path nearby as well.
