Snowmobiling Priest Lake
For snowcatters, it is a nirvana. Priest Lake hosts one of the premier snowmobiling areas in the state, with ample snow and riding on an extensive groomed trail system with access to hundreds of miles of trails that take snowmobilers around Priest and Upper Priest lakes as well into the high Selkirk Mountains for spectacular alpine views. The riding is through state and national forests, from deep forest up to vast snowy bowls in the high mountains; elevations range from 2,500 to more than 7,000 feet.
And after a big day in the snowy backcountry, sledders can relax in warmth and comfort at the several year-round resorts that offer top-notch lodging, dining and nightlife right from the trailhead. For those without the sleds, there are a number of companies providing snowmobile rentals and coaching; you can arrange to have your rental sled delivered to your resort with no trailering required.
